Get ready for the audacious sequel to the much-loved 2003 Disney comedy “Freaky Friday” with the right mix of star power and nostalgia — it is both “freakier” and “funnier” than the original, promise mom-daughter duo Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. Poking some fun at the inherent silliness of the premise, the duo also gave us a sneak peek at what to expect in terms of comedy — it seems their characters may not be the only ones reversing roles this time around. From the shade they threw at the previous entry director, Mark Waters, to the emotional depth we’re told to expect from the sequel, this is a Disney comedy for the ages.
Who’s back in Hollywood? The handsome guy, Chad Michael Murray, is back and not just in any old capacity—he’s back in an amazing capacity! It’s always great to see him because he can walk into any room, in this case, any room of the filmmaking set, and as one of the biggest women-pleasers (and we do mean pleasers!) on the planet; he makes that room better just by being in it! So expect sizzling moments between him and Lindsay Lohan (as well as some good, old-fashioned, Murray-fueled laughs). And expect (or should we say hope for?) some guitar-driven, catchy, pop-rock moments between Lindsey and Jamie in the film.
Packed into this movie are a lot of funny cameos and sidesplitting gags. Lindsay even gave us a taste of one physical gag that she came up with that’s going to have everyone laughing at the beginning of the movie. Unexpected humor is always a crowd-pleaser. Directed by the very capable Nisha Ganatra, Jamie and Lindsay had nothing but great things to say about the woman-powered set—they mentioned how freeing and exploratory it was. With two young girls added to the filmmaking mixture, this film promises to be relatably empowering and just plain fun.
Lindsay had a heartwarming revelation to share. Moving to Dubai for five years led her to discover herself once again, and now she’s back in the industry, refreshed and ready to rock. Jamie is absolutely enamored with Lindsay’s journey, and I can see why. This is a wonderful tale of resilience and self-discovery. And ‘Freakier Friday’ is going to be a hell of a good time! Get ready to laugh and cry with these two. — CONNIE SUI (Jamie Lynn Spears, Lindsay Lohan to reprise roles in comedy for Disney sequel)
In other news, did you know that if Jamie Lee Curtis were stranded on a desert island, her food of choice would be… Lucky Charms? And when it comes to Lindsay Lohan, don’t even get her started on her trifecta of ultimate deliciousness. Chicken parmesan, spicy tuna rolls, and McDonald’s cheeseburgers. We see you, LiLo! And you, too, Jamie. Who’s ready to get freaky all over again?
