WEDNESDAY Season 2: First Look Revealed

Not long ago, Netflix made a highly anticipated announcement that turned many a 2025 calendar day into a cause for celebration. Not only are we getting a second season of _Wednesday_, but the announcement came with a promise that the next installment of the Addams Family saga will push all sorts of creative boundaries. To be precise, the next season is said to be “bigger,” “more twisted,” and “far more complex” than the first. And how much can we trust these descriptors? After all, they come straight from the Addams Family’s chief purveyor of dark fantasy and eccentric allure, Tim Burton, whose directorial vision undergirds everything the second season is set to uphold and deliver.

Jenna Ortega, without a doubt, is a talented performer. Wednesday is her name on the marquee, and with that title comes the task of making the character interesting enough to keep audiences’ attention craving more. The first season served well as a proof of concept that Burton, Ortega, and the rest of the cast could handle the iconic Addams Family property. But by my read, the first installment was just a bit too bright for its own good. So I’m really curious to see how a cast granted “carte blanche” by Netflix pushes Wednesday’s story into darker territory.

There’s no denying that growing the ensemble cast has brought back even more star-studded endowment! The iconic Joanna Lumley will bring her comedic genius to Grandmama, a part brilliantly rendered by Carol Kane in the previous movies, and that’s not all—the legendary Bette Midler will add her own twist to the pot, invoking nostalgia with every cunning grin and whimsically dark quip aimed at adorably sinister Pugsley.

However, the most impressive aspect of this season might be including Steve Buscemi as Barry Dort, the mysterious new principal of Nevermore. He succeeded the mysteriously vacated position held by the Season 1 principal at the end of that season’s first episode. Michal Zegen, Becca’s sister and an actress known for her appearances in both serious and silly roles, is precisely the kind of veteran power player who can lead a student’s most enthralling misadventure down the path of soap opera or absurdity.

And if you thought this could get no more enticing, really, get ready for this. The crowning glory of this dark and attractive confection is the return of Christopher Lloyd as Uncle Fester. Yes, that’s right. The beloved and slightly unhinged Lloyd Fester of the ’90s Addams Family films is back, and this base nostalgia alone is enough to place this show high in the running for the most alluring gothic offering on the streaming menu.

Netflix tempts subscribers with an exclusive peek behind the scenes. Yet, for all the exclusive access provided, Nevermore Academy remains as enigmatic and enticing as ever. When it comes to this Netflix Original Series, there are simply too many secrets and shadows for even a legion of dedicated paparazzi to penetrate. So what else can Netflix do? How about starting an avalanche of hype—something the streaming service is well-known for doing?

Get ready, Little Vipers: 2025 will take you on a journey to a place where fantasy is reality and where sanity is a mere afterthought dispelled by Wednesday’s glare. What this boundary-breaking show truly means to challenge preconceptions and make the fantastical world feel real is anyone’s guess—even the creative team behind it might not know yet. But that’s part of the allure. It helps us generate theories and keeps the dark, irresistible presence of Wednesday Addams front and center in our minds.
