Montana Jordan’s Adorable Father-Daughter Day on ‘Georgie and Mandy’ Set

Just when we thought the universe of “Young Sheldon” couldn’t become more warm and fuzzy, it is about to “spin off” (naturally) into heartwarming new territory—both literally and figuratively! Set to premiere on Thursday, October 17, “Georgie and Mandy” puts teenagers Jordan and Osment front and center in a rollicking new sitcom that, based on the promo, seems to promise a lot of giggles and sobs. Like “Young Sheldon,” which is about a young version of “The Big Bang Theory” character Sheldon Cooper, “Georgie and Mandy” is ostensibly a prequel to “The Big Bang Theory.” It will revolve around Georgie (Jordan), who was a teenage character in “Young Sheldon,” and Mandy (Osment), a character who has not yet appeared in either of the other two sitcoms but who seems to play a big role in Georgie’s future.

We received an exclusive look at the preparation behind the appearance of the star duo in the roles they are about to undertake. Still a little sore from their full-cast Tango lessons, Montana and the other gentleman from “Young Sheldon,” who has also recently become a father, assure us it is going to look incredible in the opening credits of the soon-to-premiere “Young Sheldon.” They promise us it came out good. They don’t lie; we’ve seen it. This is a reveal in the next-to-nothing tradition of the exclusive previews of the ’90s.

In terms of genuine familial sentiments in true Americana, Emily Osment and Montana are building something that is real and relatable—almost like a sitcom version of the Olsen twins—offering up the family tides that bind every household into a unique dynamic. “We’re just so lucky,” Montana says, “that we get to do live shows every Tuesday, which is, like, pinching ourselves crazy. … With the audience in the room, we can really feel the love.” And, according to insiders, it’s not just the audience that brings the love and warmth to the set. Montana and her family have made “family night” on set a tradition, thanks in no small part to the warm-up crew’s inappropriate levels of cuteness.

Behind the bright lights and the fabulous fanfare lies a simple truth: “Georgie and Mandy” is the classic tale of young people starting out on the path to adulthood, with all its inevitable bumps, twists, and turns. Yours truly hasn’t seen the show yet, but this description provides ample reason to believe that it’s going to be quite the adventure and one that viewers can relate to, what with its heart- and humor-infused rhythms and dynamics of modern family life. They say stories are born from a place deep down inside. Well, if that’s where this one came from (and why wouldn’t it?), then I’d say it’s got pretty good odds of delivering the goods (and what else on “U.S. Network Television” is this good at odds, eh?). “Georgie and Mandy,” coming October, on CBS.
